Welcome to 'My Bio' page and thanks for being interested in me...
My name is Anthony Hetzel and I grew up in a small town called Garrettsville near Kent, OH. From a very early age I
learned the value of hard work. Shortly before starting school my family moved to a farm and we began to work the land and
gather some livestock. I did many tasks for my father and quickly learned how to make menial tasks bearable. The days
continued like this for several years till I found myself at my first job at the age of 16. I had become a stock clerk at the local
grocery store. It was here that I began developing my people skills as it was a small community and friendliness was key. We
had the occasional customer that would become surly about a price or misread advertisement and often I had to keep a cool
head in an uncomfortable situation.
That first job set the stage for my next venture as a student assistant at the University of Akron's Bierce Library. In the
lower levels of the library I tended to student and faculty copy needs. Here I became familiar not only with the work I had to
do but the machines that helped me do that work. I quickly learned the value of knowing the tools I worked with. Being able
to do minor repairs on the scene allowed for business to resume quickly and keeping the clients happy. I also had a great
team I worked with and before long was given the responsibility of closing the service center in the evening. Gaining that
level of trust so quickly gave me a deep feeling of satisfaction.
During the summer of 98' I was presented with a great work opportunity. I was hired in as a maintenance helper at
Geauga Lake of Ohio. I was learning a new trade and getting to work with my hands. I began my endeavor into the crafts of
carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance. It was a wonderful time in my life, but I couldn't seem to get a full
time position. It wasn't long though before I heard another department had a position. I jumped at the opportunity and was
hired in as a full time Water Quality Technician. My work now extended to the realm of chemistry and animal caretaking. I
took minimal classes in college at this time and focused on my laboring.
All good things come to an end though and after several changes in management over my five years of employment my
department was terminated. I found myself on the verge of unemployment and my workable skills, although well honed,
undesired in the work force. I decided to go back to college and finish my degree. I began taking art classes and focusing on
Graphic Design. It wasn't long before I completely fell in love with this field of study. I was again working with my hands but
creating something much more than just mundane objects. It was a musical mix of art and science.
I've been working on my degree for two years now and am getting closer to my goal every day. I've had my spin in the job
market and I strive harder because of it. I don't want to be left without options again. I see everyday as a new opportunity
and have excelled in most of my classes. The prospect of using my new found knowledge in the real world excites me to no
end. Never before have I considered there would be a field out there that I would be eager to go to work everyday.
I hope you've learned a bit about me here and see how dedicated I am to my new found goals and field of work. I appre-
ciate you stopping by and hope we will be working together in the future.
Thanks,
Anthony C Hetzel
